The Department of Cyber Security and MCA organized a guest lecture on “AI Deep Learning: Transforming Agriculture and Healthcare for a Smarter Future” on September 19, 2024. The resource persons were Dr. Prakash U M, Assistant Professor at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, and Dr. Deepa K, Assistant Professor at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai.
R. Dharshana, a III-year Cyber Security student, introduced the technical trainers, while S. Srija, a II-year Cyber Security student, delivered the welcome address. Dr. M. Premkumar, Principal of Paavai Engineering College, gave the presidential address, emphasizing that the outcome of the learning process must be positive, aiming to enhance skills, gain knowledge, and increase efficiency. Dr. P. Muthusamy, Head of the Department of Cyber Security and Master of Computer Applications, motivated students to continually improve their talents.
The trainers discussed how the combination of AI and agriculture, which once seemed unlikely, is now a reality. Agriculture has been the backbone of human civilization for millennia, providing sustenance and contributing to economic development. However, even the most basic forms of AI only emerged a few decades ago. Today, innovative ideas are being introduced in every industry, including agriculture. Recent advancements in agricultural technology are revolutionizing farming practices, and these innovations are crucial as global challenges such as climate change, population growth, and resource scarcity threaten the sustainability of our food systems. AI is helping to solve many of these challenges and is addressing the limitations of traditional farming methods.
