The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering in association with ISTE-Erode local centre, Paavai Engineering College organised a Workshop on “Innovative approaches to Real time object detection using deep learning” on 19.11.2024. The event aimed to equip students with fundamental concepts and practical skills in AI technologies, focusing on real-world applications and project development.
The welcome address was given by K.Meera, III Year /ECE and the resource speaker introduction was given by T.Safrin Safana, III Year /ECE. In the presidential address, Dr.M.Premkumar, Principal, emphasized the significance of Artificial Intelligence in real-world scenarios. Mr.R.Sathish, in his keynote address, shared valuable applications of Artificial Intelligence by highlighting the Deep Learning process.
The workshop commenced with an insightful Introduction to Artificial Intelligence, where participants gained an understanding of the core concepts, machine learning algorithms, and an overview of deep learning. This session set a strong foundation for further exploration into AI technologies.
A highlight of the workshop was the session on Real-Time Object Detection using YOLOv8. Participants were introduced to the cutting-edge capabilities of YOLOv8 for object detection and tracking, a highly sought-after skill in the AI industry. The session ended with a Vote of Thanks by G.Nithya Shrri III Year, ECE. Dr.R.Mohana Priya, HoD/ECE was the Convener. Dr.T.Loganayagi, Prof/ECE and Mrs.A.Sujitha, AP/ECE organised the event. Around 180 students attended this workshop.
