The Institution of Engineers (India), Salem Local Centre, Salem and The Student Chapter, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Paavai Engineering College, Namakkal organised a one day seminar titled “Advancements in Semiconductor Fabrication Process” on 14.05.2024. The welcome address was given by Dr.T.Thangaraj, Chairman, IEI, Salem Local Centre, Salem. Dr.K.K.Ramasamy, Director-Admin, Paavai Institutions gave the presidential address. In his address, he appreciated the alumni speakers and motivated the students to utilize this opportunity and be interactive during the session. Mr.S.Sri Sabari & Mr.Siva Mathesh of Third Year ECE, Ms.R.Bhuvaneshwari & Ms.Subaranjana Mani of Second Year ECE, introduced the resource speakers from Industries and dignitaries from IEI, Salem Local Centre, Salem.
Session I:
Mr.Sudhakar, Senior Manager, Semiconductor Test Engineering, Tessolve Services Pvt Ltd., Bangalore was the resource speaker. In his lecture he explained about the IC manufacturing. He also listed the several processes involved in the manufacture of semiconductors, such as lithography, doping, and etching. He insisted the importance and vacancies in the core oriented companies.
Session II: Role of ICs in Indutries
Mr.Sasikumar, Managing Director, Mikrosun Technology, Salem was resource person He provided examples of IC types and their history throughout his speech. Additionally, he provided a thorough explanation of the operation and features of ICs. He discussed the benefits, drawbacks, and significance of ICs as he wrapped up his talk.
Session III:
Dr.Kamalakannan, Associate Professor, Physics, Paavai Engineering College was the resource speaker. He gave an explanation of how important nanoparticles are to modern technology. He described how silicon wafers are used to create nanostructures and how quantum materials are made.
Session IV:
Mr.S.Vijayakumar, Associate Professor, ECE, Paavai Engineering College was the resource speaker. He briefed about the fabrication of ICs using CMOS. Additionally, he described how current trends’ CMOS integrated circuits function. He concluded by discussing the benefits and uses of CMOS.
The students were able to acquaint themselves with the various fabrication knowledge. All the speakers engaged the session with interaction. Students were attended the session very enthusiastically. Around 250 members participated in the One Day Seminar on “Advancements in Semiconductor Fabrication Process”. Queries were clarified by the resource speakers and the Vote of Thanks was done by Dr.C.Dhavamani, Honorary Secretary, IEI, Salem Local Centre, Salem.
