The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) and the Energy Club of Paavai Engineering College organized an online seminar on “Powering Up Electrical Design Using BIM & MEP” through the Microsoft Teams platform on February 10, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
The session commenced with a welcome address by Ms. K. Shobika, a second-year EEE student. Following this, Ms. Thaslema Afrin, a second-year EEE student, introduced the Chief Guest, Mr. Syed Nasif, Director – Learning and Development/Operations, ACE India Training and Services Pvt. Ltd., Kochi.
Mr. Syed Nasif began his talk with the quote, “BIM – The collaborative power of information-driven modeling.” He emphasized the significance of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems. He explained how the BIM process supports the creation of intelligent data that can be utilized throughout the lifecycle of a building or infrastructure project. He concluded by highlighting that BIM not only enhances efficiency in design and construction but also allows teams to capture valuable data for improved operations and maintenance.
The one-day online seminar was organized by Dr. G. Balaji, Professor and Head of the Department, and coordinated by Dr. S. Suganya, Dr. C. Arulkumar, and Mr. R. Satheeshkumar. Students from the second, third, and fourth years of EEE actively participated in the session.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. P. V. Indumathi, a second-year EEE student.
