The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Paavai Engineering College organized a Career Guidance Programme on the “GATE Examination” on October 24, 2024. Mr. Jaya Prakash, Senior Executive of Academic Relations at ACE Engineering Academy, Coimbatore, was the resource person. The welcome address was delivered by K. Sivaraman, a fourth-year EEE student, and V. Veeramani, also a fourth-year EEE student, introduced the chief guest.
The resource person discussed the importance of the GATE exam, eligibility criteria, exam structure, and preparation strategies. He explained that the GATE exam serves as a gateway for aspiring engineers and scientists, offering enhanced educational and career opportunities. He advised candidates to prepare thoughtfully, using available resources and strategies to maximize their success. With dedicated planning, the GATE exam can greatly influence their professional paths. The exam comprises multiple-choice questions (MCQs), numerical answer-type questions (NATs), and fill-in-the-blank questions, conducted over a three-hour period with a total of 100 marks. Many public sector undertakings (PSUs), including BHEL, ONGC, and NTPC, consider GATE scores for recruitment, offering lucrative job opportunities. Additionally, GATE scores facilitate entry into research programs, leading to Ph.D. opportunities at reputed institutions.
The session was attended by the Head of the Department, faculty members, and students. The vote of thanks was delivered by M. Kavipriya, a fourth-year EEE student. Dr. G. Balaji, Professor and Head of the EEE Department, along with Mr. R. Satheeshkumar, Assistant Professor of EEE, handled the necessary arrangements for organizing the program. The role of master of ceremonies was managed by S. Naveenkumar, a fourth-year EEE student.
