The Department of EEE organized an online webinar titled “Challenges and Innovations of Transmission Lines” through the Google Meet platform on 28.08.2024, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The event began with a warm welcome by Ms. M. Kavipriya, a final-year student of the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department. The distinguished guest speaker was Dr. V. Royana Daisy, Assistant Engineer at TNEB, Mettur. She delivered an insightful talk, providing a comprehensive overview of the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of power transmission lines. The discussion began with an exploration of various maintenance strategies crucial for ensuring the endurance and effectiveness of transmission lines, emphasizing the importance of considering environmental and operational factors.
Dr. Daisy also addressed the types of faults commonly encountered in transmission lines, particularly those caused by birds, animals, and other external factors. These challenges significantly impact the security and stability of power transmission, underscoring the need for robust safety measures. Additionally, she examined the role of SCADA systems in the monitoring and control of transmission lines, highlighting their importance in modern power systems.
This one-day online webinar was organized by the Professor and Head of the Department, Dr. G. Balaji, and coordinated by Mrs. K. K. Poongodi, Dr. S. Rathinacel, and Mrs. G. Uma Maheswari.
Mr. M. Rajeshkumar, a final-year EEE student, introduced the chief guest, and Ms. S. Devadharshini, also a final-year EEE student, delivered the vote of thanks.
