The Department of English, Paavai Engineering College, organized a webinar on “Soft Skills for Career Development” on March 21, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM via the Microsoft Teams platform. The session was designed to equip first-year engineering students with essential soft skills, empowering them for successful placements in multinational companies.
The event commenced with a presidential address by Dr. M. Premkumar, Principal, Paavai Engineering College. The resource person, Mr. A. Sivabalu, Vice President – Business Development, Hanodale Solutions, Coimbatore, delivered an engaging and insightful session.
He began by distinguishing between a job and a career, emphasizing the long-term growth mindset required for professional success. He elaborated on the Hire, Train, and Deploy model adopted by corporate firms for recruiting freshers. He further underscored the significance of soft skills, highlighting effective communication, confident body language, teamwork, and interpersonal skills as key attributes for career advancement. Additionally, he stressed the importance of time management in enhancing productivity and achieving career milestones.
Prior to his address, the guest speaker was introduced by Ms. Brindha, a first-year Cyber Security student, and the session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Manisha, first-year Cyber Security. The webinar proved to be highly beneficial, with nearly 300 students actively participating and gaining valuable insights.
