An Alumni Guest Lecture on the topic “Importance of Technologists in the Food Industry” was organized by the Department of Food Technology in association with the Institution Innovation Council, Paavai Engineering College (Autonomous), on 12.09.2024. P. Harini, a final-year student, welcomed the gathering. A total of 134 students attended the event.
This lecture provided a valuable opportunity for students to connect with an alumnus, who shared his industry experience and gave students insights into life after their studies, including job opportunities, scholarships, and higher studies.
Pavithra Shree, another final-year student, introduced the resource speaker, Mr. Akash Babu J.S., Lead Quality Controller at Deli Foods, Coimbatore, and an alumnus of the Food Technology department. He exposed the students to real-world experiences and challenges in the industry, discussing topics such as packaging innovations, food sensory evaluation, food processing, crisis management, and entrepreneurship.
Our Dean, Dr. K. Selvi, addressed the alumni and spoke about current trends in the food industry. She also encouraged the organization of more such events to provide students with real-world insights and experiences beyond the classroom.
The Alumni Guest Lecture was an enriching and educational experience for all who attended. It served as a platform for students to gain industry insights directly from a professional in the field, fostering a stronger connection between alumni and current students. Events like this are crucial for bridging the gap between academia and industry, equipping students with the tools and knowledge needed for their future endeavors.
Finally, the vote of thanks was delivered by Hema Shree, a final-year student, and the Alumni Guest Lecture was successfully concluded. The session was highly interactive and informative.
