The Department of IT and Global Affairs, in collaboration with Internshala, organized an online awareness session titled “Study Abroad” on August 13, 2024. The session featured Dr. Hardaershdeep Singh Madaan, Director of GRE and TOEFL, along with Martina Christie and Raveen Singh from Internshala as the chief guests. The main objective of the session was to inform students about higher education opportunities abroad and guide them through the formal requirements for studying in foreign countries.
Dr. K.K. Ramasamy, Director of Administration at Paavai Institutions, has consistently supported such knowledge-sharing initiatives. The event was presided over by Dr. M. Premkumar, Principal of Paavai Engineering College, with Dr. B. Venkatesan, Head of IT, and Dr. M. Raja, Head of Global Affairs, overseeing the arrangements. Ms. R. Reema, a final-year IT student, warmly welcomed the gathering.
In his presidential address, Dr. M. Premkumar emphasized the importance of global opportunities, highlighting the Memorandum of Understanding between Paavai Engineering College and Taiwanese universities. He shared how Paavai students have secured merit scholarships for higher education in Taiwan and gained employment in Taiwan and other countries. He encouraged students to make the most of the information provided in the seminar to take advantage of scholarships and other opportunities for building an international career.
During the session, the chief guests explained the admission processes for international students at foreign universities, covering a range of bachelor’s and master’s programs. They also provided insights into renowned universities across different countries and the courses that offer promising career prospects. Furthermore, they discussed scholarships, English proficiency tests like Duolingo and IELTS, and special schemes offered by foreign universities, especially for Indian students.
The session concluded with an interactive Q&A segment, where the chief guests addressed various queries from the students. The event saw enthusiastic participation from students across various departments interested in studying abroad. The program was hosted by Ms. Swarna, a final-year IT student, and ended with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. B.N. Rakshna, also a final-year IT student.
