Welcome Address:
The event commenced promptly at 2.00 pm by warm and engaging welcome address by Ms. S. Jayapreethi of I MBA.
Introduction of the speaker:
Ms. S. Gayathri of I MBA introduced the Guest speaker.
Mr. Anish K Chocko originally hailed from Ernakulam district of Kerala. He did his graduation from Muthammayal College of Arts and Science and post-graduation from our college during the year 2015. Soon after his completion he joined Nippon Paints as sales executive and now he looks after the operation from Chennai to Kanyakumari. He is an able negotiator and tough task master.
Presidential address:
The presidential address was given by the Director Prof. Dr.T. Kalaiselvi. She expressed the concern on students getting second class degree. She stressed the importance of scoring high marks. She added that good companies’ picks up students with high marks. Marks are fundamental criteria which expresses the students’ attitude and hard work. She highlighted the significance of the alumni guest lecture on employability skills for the future, emphasizing the importance of lifelong learning and professional development.

The following points were stressed by the speaker on personality development:
Personality as a whole can be developed through following manners
- Time Management. The way in which we use time will decide our success. Find the time wasters and remove over a period. We have to be punctual and committed to it. Time Management is an art, and it starts with prioritizing the tasks, allocating time for each work.
- Communication Skills. You have to communicate with good language, which should bring the customer nearby. The speaker gave his experience of calling customer by using relationship building words like a “appa”, “akka” and “anna”. Do not use the word “Sir” for some customers. One significant factor that distinguishes an excellent communicator from a bad one is the level of confidence with which you put across your message.
- Problem-Solving Skills. Problem-solving skills, also known as conflict resolution skills is critical to your professional success. At every stage in life, you have to face conflicting situations or problems wherein you have to make optimal use of scarce resources.
- Soft Skills: Told about the role of soft skills such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving and adaptability in our workplace.
- Technological Proficiency: His lecture also focused on the necessity of being tech-savvy and how digital literacy is increasingly becoming a core employability skill.
- Networking: He shared personal experiences and highlighted the importance of building a professional network to create opportunities for career advancement. He said one contact he earns should bring 10 more contacts and thus the sales value increases geomentrically.
- Industry Insights: The speaker provided insights into the specific requirements and trends within their industry, which was especially beneficial for students interested in pursuing a career in the same field.
