The Department of Mathematics, in collaboration with the Aryabhatta Math Club, successfully organized Pi Day 2025, featuring exciting competitions to celebrate the significance of Pi (π). The goal was to promote mathematical curiosity and creativity among students.
The events included Pi Craft on March 12, 2025, followed by Rangoli, Quiz, and Poster Design on March 14, 2025. Students from Paavai Engineering College (PEC), Paavai College of Engineering (PCE), and Pavai Arts and Science College for Women (PASCW) participated enthusiastically. Around 415 students competed in the final rounds.
Pi Craft was a creative event where students showcased artistic and innovative representations of Pi. The first prize was won by Tharani D, Mugilarasi L, and Sathiya P (I AIML B, PEC). The second prize was awarded to Anuja P, Hemalatha K, and Dharanyadevi S B (I ECE A, PEC) along with Rangavi G (I ECE C, PEC). The third prize went to Kanishma R and Abiyouth S (I BME, PCE), with consolation prizes given to several other students.
The Quiz competition tested mathematical knowledge and reasoning skills. The first prize winners were Snehith Reddy C G, Vishnuvarthan T, Kaviya M, and Kanika S (PCE). The second prize was won by Devidharshini S, Kalaiyarasan M, Kalai Suriyamurthi, and Veeraa Suriyaa B (PEC), while the third prize was awarded to Ragul R, Krishnamoorthi N, Hariharan B, and Vasanth S (PCE).
In the Poster Design competition, students visually represented Pi’s significance through creative posters. The first prize was secured by Snehith Reddy C G (I AIML, PCE). The second prize was awarded to Naveen Kumar T (I CY SEC, PCE) and Yeshwanth T Y (II ECE C, PEC). The third prize winners were Pragadesh (I IT B, PEC), Kaviya K (I N&D, PASCW), and Asmitha A (II CS, PASCW), with several other participants receiving consolation prizes.
The Rangoli competition combined mathematical themes with traditional artistry, featuring designs inspired by Pi. The first prize was awarded to two teams: one from PCE, consisting of Renuga Shree, Dharshini G, Dharshini V, Athulya, and Deepika S, and another from IT Aero / PEC, consisting of Yasicaa V, Prasanya S, Boomika D, Dharshini B, and Kokila H. The second prize winners included teams from I AIML B (PEC) and II MCT & I ECE B (PEC), while the third prize was shared by teams from II Maths (PASCW) and I IT B (PEC). Consolation prizes were given to outstanding designs.
The event encouraged mathematical exploration, creativity, and teamwork. It helped students enhance their mathematical skills, appreciate interdisciplinary learning, and foster healthy competition.
The Department of Mathematics extends its gratitude to the management, faculty coordinators, and students for their efforts in making this event a success. We appreciate the enthusiasm of all participants and winners.
