The Department of Mechatronics Engineering, in association with the Institution of Engineers (India) (IEI), Paavai Engineering College, organized a guest lecture on “Recent Trends in EVs and HEVs” on March 11, 2025. The session aimed to enhance students’ awareness of industry applications and technological advancements in the field of electric and hybrid electric vehicles (EVs & HEVs).
The event commenced with a welcome address by Mohammed Ismail, a third-year Mechatronics student. Following this, Ragavendran S., III MCT, introduced the resource speaker, Mr. P. Karthikeyan, Assistant Professor (Sr.G), Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Kongu Engineering College, Erode.
During the session, Mr. P. Karthikeyan provided valuable insights into the evolving landscape of EVs and HEVs, explaining how industry applications drive innovation in business processes, culture, and customer experiences. He also elaborated on the key industrial domains shaping this transformation. Towards the end of the lecture, he highlighted various job opportunities in the industry, offering students career-oriented guidance.
The interactive session witnessed the participation of around 100 students, who actively engaged by posing thought-provoking queries, which were effectively addressed by the resource speaker.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by J. Vishwa, III MCT. The successful coordination of the event was led by Dr. D.R.P. Rajarathnam, HoD/MCT, and Mr. R. Arunbabu, Assistant Professor/MCT.
This guest lecture served as an enriching platform for students to gain industry-relevant knowledge and explore emerging trends in sustainable transportation technologies.
