The Department of Pharmaceutical Technology, in association with Pharma technical association and youth read cross of the institution has conducted an Awareness Talk on “World cancer Day” on 05.02.2025 (Wednesday) at JRD TATA Hall from 03:00PM to 04:30PM. Prior to this talk session a badge distribution was organized by the Pharmaceutical Technology department on 04.02.2024 and the badges were distributed for faculty members, Principals, Deans, Admin, Correspondent and Chairman of the Paavai institutions. The welcome address was given by third year student, R.Kowsalya and the presidential address was given by Dr. A. Hepsi Rachel Chellarani followed the speaker introduction by P.Sobika, second year. The Students of Pharmaceutical Technology, Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, Food technology, Nursing and Pharmacy college of Paavai institutions attended the talk along with YRC volunteers. The resource person of the day was Dr.T.Paneerselvam, Surgical Oncologist, SKS Hospital, Salem created awareness among the students about cancer from the stage of diagnosis till post treatment . He insisted the student to share the details about Mamogram testing for women with their parents to prevent breast cancer. He also mentioned the important statement that cancer is non-contagious and importance of diagnosis at an early stage to prevent the loss of life. He stressed the fact that never believe the most common myths shared among the public and enriched the student’s knowledge about not to avoid even a single indication of the human biological changes unnoticed. The doctor enlisted the necessities of post check-up after eradication of cancer tumour and proving a moral support to patients via rehabilitation system. The current research trends of combinational therapy have supported in helping the maximal patients with long life span after proper treatment, stating this, he encouraged the students to understand the problem statement and concentrate from the ground work.
Finally, he was open for discussion forum where our students from different domains, faculties on the basis the research and our Dean Research questioning about recent innovation enlightened the overall session. The speaker was too friendly to patiently address each query and accepted for further research survey as per necessities in their hospital after a proper channelling.
Overall, the talk was attended by around 200 members including the faculty members. The overall session MC was done by K. Udhyavanan, final year and the session was ended with vote of thanks by S.Subhasree, second year, Pharmaceutical technology.
