The Department of Physics, Paavai Engineering College, organized a one-day student webinar on “Recent Advances in Biomaterials” on March 25, 2025. The webinar was organized by Dr. T. Krishnakumar, Professor & Head of the Department, and coordinated by Dr. T. Prakash and Dr. N. Hariprakash, along with faculty members.
The event commenced with a welcome address by Dr. K. Selvi, Dean (Academics), Paavai Engineering College. Dr. M. Premkumar, Principal, Paavai Engineering College, delivered the presidential address. Ms. S. Kanishka, a first-year Food Technology student, introduced the Chief Guest, Dr. E.K. Girija, Professor of Physics, Periyar University, Salem.
Dr. E.K. Girija highlighted the significance of biomaterials in our daily lives. The session provided students with valuable insights into biomaterials used in medical applications to support, enhance, or replace damaged tissue or biological functions. The session was highly informative and engaging, with students actively participating and interacting with the Chief Guest to clarify their doubts.
Around 150 students from various departments, including IT, CSE (AIML), CSE (IoT), AIDS, Biomedical, Chemical, Food, Pharma, Agriculture, and Biotechnology, participated in the webinar.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. V. Thanishka, a first-year Food Technology student.
