The Faculty Development Department organized a six -day Induction Programme for the recently recruited faculty members to make them familiar with the institutional practices and the instructional strategies of teaching and learning, because teachers are considered to be the pillars of Paavai. The inaugural ceremony was held at Smart hall on 11.07.2024. The programme started invoking God’s bountiful blessings with the prayer song, followed by lighting of the kuthuvilakku. Shri.CA.N.V.Natarajan Chairman, Paavai Educational Institutions delivered the Inaugural Address. Sir highlighted the importance of Induction Programme which enables the new faculty members to acclimate to the philosophy and DNA of Paavai. He also added that the various input sessions will chisel them to become effective teachers and micro teaching sessions will help to identify their flaws while delivering a lesson and with the directions given by the panel members the teachers will work towards becoming innovative teachers and make their classes engaging and enjoyable. The relevance of all topics by eminent resources persons were listed out. Smt. Mangai Natarajan, Correspondent in her felicitation started that the teachers who are the pillars of Paavai are always celebrated. She added that teachers have to carve an identity for themselves by identifying their area of specialization. The relevance of Technical Terms and Class delivery given in the Presenter’s Manual was also explained in her speech. Dr.K.Selvi Dean Academics, PEC welcomed the gathering. The objectives and methodology of the orientation programme were read out by Dr.J.Murshitha Banu Head, FDD. 39 faculty members from Paavai Educational Institutions attended the Induction Programme.
After the inauguration, the formal sessions commenced. Shri.CA.N.V.Natarajan, Chairman of Paavai Educational Institutions conducted the session on the topic entitled “Paavai on the Path of Progress”. Sir started with the history of Paavai Educational Institutions since inception and showed the upward trajectory of Paavai. The progress of Paavai was the result of hard work and consistent efforts of the stakeholders of Paavai. Sir added that Paavai faculty members should be the epitome of qualities such as commitment, empathy, knowledge, care etc. Students should be harnessed to transform into icons of modern India with traditional roots. Students should have clear goals and ambitions and should work towards becoming innovators and trendsetters.
Mrs.Jayalakshmi, Dean, Counseling, illustrated that “Teachers are Real Parents” by citing various lifetime incidents. She shared her experiences to deal with the slow learners in the classroom. Dr.K.K.Ramasamy, Director Administration, expounded on the different roles and responsibilities of the teachers. He advocated the practical methods of teaching to reach out to the students of all categories. He also stressed the importance of observation skill which should be developed by the teachers. He highlighted that knowledge of the fundamentals, good communication skills, keen observation and a pleasant attitude should be practiced by the teachers to improve their teaching skills. Various examples related to different branches of study and environments were explained. Dr.K.Selvi, Dean, Academics, PEC explained the significance of Paavai Culture, Paavai Mantra and Paavai beliefs. Dr.M.PremKumar, Principal, PEC, emphasized the importance of developing a right attitude to serve as worthy members of Paavai. He explained that. ‘One’s attitude determines one’s Altitude’. Dr.B.Murali Babu, CoE elaborated on the significance of ‘Triple S relationship’. He stated that the relationship of faculty members with the students, other staff members, and superiors should have the line of boundary to maintain a healthy relationship.
Dr.J.Murshitha Banu Professor and Head, FDD elaborated on the importance of English language and communication skills for students in the job market. Throughout the session, the members were facilitated to hone their LSRW skills. Dr.N.Ezhili, Principal,PASCW in her topic entitled ‘‘Pedagogy For Professional Enrichment’ emphasized the quintessential need for pedagogical practices to make learning engaging and interesting for students. She further highlighted the different strategies and techniques of teaching and learning to make the classroom interactive and interesting. She also cited many real time experiences which made her session lively. Her second session on the topic entitled Design Thinking and Creativity’ made all the new teachers understand that creativity is intelligence having fun and all creative ventures in the field of research were a result of lateral thinking and innovation. The photographer of many of her research projects kindled a lot of interest amid the new faculty members.
Dr.I.Rajendran, Dean Research and Innovation, PEC through his topic ‘Inclination towards Research’ stressed on the importance of research, which will elevate the status of Paavai Institutions in the field of research and innovative. Dr.D.Bhanumathy, HoD, CSE explained the Be Liberated, Be Happy with various activities. Dr.Mohanapriya, ASP, ECE explained the importance of Smart Teaching. She directed the faculty members to make use of online teaching resources. She engaged the participants using online tools to make learning effective. Dr.T.Kalaiselvi, Director, MBA/PEC through her topic ‘Embracing Continuous learning for Success’ elucidated that the process of teaching involves continuous learning and every teacher should be updated and transfer the knowledge effectively to their students. The various antidotes and stories gripped the audience in awe and creative activities like SCAMPER will make the students be participative and productive in the classrooms. Dr.K.Sundaramurthy, Head, IQAC/PEC through his topic ‘Navigating Outcome based Education – A Roadmap for Excellence’ addressed the dynamic requirements of the modern era where the emphasis is on holistic learning, digital literacy and skill development. This is in alignment with the New Educational Policy which signifies a transformative step in the field of education. Mr.Elavarasan, Yoga Trainer demonstrated the various asanas and yoga exercise.
Each resource person explained, elaborated and had an interactive session with the faculty members. Around fourteen topics were handled during the sessions. Every faculty member gave a model presentation of their teaching units and feedback was given to enhance their teaching skills. The programme thus catered to the needs of the inductees and the Faculty Development Department expressed its willingness to hand hold them till they acclimatize to Paavai. The Valedictory function was held on 19.07.2024 at Smart Hall at 02.00 pm. All the faculty members recorded their feedback and the induction programme concluded.
