The IDW 2025 Virtual Design Now Workshop on Fusion 360, hosted by ICT Academy, was successfully conducted with an engaging session led by Mr. Altaf Hussain Khanday, an Autodesk Certified Instructor. The II-year and III-year MCT 20 students actively participated in the workshop, which provided hands-on training in Computer-Aided Design (CAD), 3D modeling, and simulation techniques using Fusion 360. Participants gained valuable insights into parametric design, assembly modeling, and cloud-based collaboration, enhancing their technical proficiency in modern engineering design workflows.
The workshop introduced participants to Fusion 360’s interface, tools, and workspace navigation. They developed skills in creating parametric and free form 3D models and learned to assemble components while performing motion studies. Additionally, the session covered stress analysis, generative design, and topology optimization, enabling students to optimize their designs through simulation and analysis. Real-time collaboration, version control, and data management within Fusion 360 were also demonstrated, helping participants understand cloud-based design workflows.
Mr. Altaf Hussain Khanday shared his expertise on advanced design methodologies, simulation-driven optimization, and manufacturing integration, making the session highly interactive and informative. Students actively participated in live demonstrations, real-world design challenges, and Q&A sessions, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience.
The workshop concluded with positive feedback from attendees, who appreciated its role in bridging the gap between academic learning and industry-oriented design practices. Participants left with a solid understanding of Fusion 360’s fundamentals, parametric modeling, assembly design, rendering, visualization, and simulation techniques, equipping them with essential skills for modern engineering applications.
