The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), in association with the Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) of Paavai Engineering College, organized an online webinar on “Intellectual Property Day” titled “Protecting Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) and IP Management for Startups” through the Microsoft Teams platform on 23.04.2025, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The session commenced with the welcome address delivered by Mr. M. Gowtham, a III-year EEE student. Selvan S. Giri, II-year EEE, introduced the Chief Guest.
The resource person, Dr. K. Indhumathi, Professor at Saveetha Engineering College, Saveetha Nagar, Thandalam, Chennai, began the session with a quote: “Innovation is equal to Creativity and Commercialization.” She emphasized the significance of the webinar and highlighted the various initiatives of the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) and the Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC).
Dr. Indhumathi discussed the definitions of Intellectual Property (IP) and Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs), the global IPR regime, and Indian laws governing IPRs. She illustrated her points with real-life examples, notably mentioning Bill Ford, and concluded by encouraging participants to develop innovative ideas.
