The International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples was observed on 9th August 2025 at M.S. Swaminathan Vayal Kudam, jointly organized by Paavai Organic Farming (POF) and Paavai Velaan Mandram. The event aimed to create awareness about the heritage, values, and sustainable practices of indigenous communities, emphasizing their importance in agriculture and environmental conservation.
The celebration commenced with a welcome address by M. Keerthi, IV Year – Agri, Overall Coordinator, Paavai Organic Farming, who highlighted the significance of indigenous knowledge systems in sustainable agriculture and set a positive tone for the program.
The event was graced by the Chief Guest, Mr. R. Kanagaraj, Campus Chief Security Officer, Paavai Educational Institutions (Retired Bank Officer). In his address, he emphasized the values of discipline, respect for tradition, and the relevance of indigenous knowledge in modern times, motivating students to adopt sustainable and eco-friendly practices.
The gathering was also addressed by Dr. B. Kailashkumar, M.Tech., Ph.D., Head of the Department of Agricultural Engineering, who shared his insights on integrating indigenous wisdom into contemporary agriculture. The program was coordinated under the guidance of R. Gopikrishnan, B.E. (Agri.), Teaching Research Associate, and U. Karthickeya, B.E. (Agri.), M.E., PGD A&LD, Assistant Professor & Farm Superintendent, Coordinator – Paavai Organic Farming, whose efforts ensured the smooth conduct of the event.
The program concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by P. Yogaraj, IV Year – Agri, Student Secretary, Department of Agricultural Engineering, who expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest, HoD, faculty coordinators, and students for their active participation and support in making the event a meaningful success.
