The Youth Red Cross of Paavai Engineering College in association with the Karur Medical Clinic, Karur had organized an guest lecture titled “Anti-Drug Awareness” on 10th May 2024 in Prestige Hall between 10.30 a.m. to 01.00 p.m. Dr.V.F.UVAIS MBBS,MD(Psychiatry) psychiatrist in Karur Medical Clinic was the guest speaker. The inauguration started with a prayer song. The welcome address was given by S.Ranjith Kumar from Third year ECE. Dr.M.Premkumar, Principal Paavai Engineering College gave the presidential address and explained the need of awareness, shared his insights about the drugs usage by the current generation students and the side effects of the drugs.
Dr.V.F.UVAIS addressed the students and discussed about the types of substances that are used as drugs that affects the people’s mind and alter their body function. He also added what are the most used drugs in the society especially by the college students. He explained the complete dependency side effects of the two major drugs which are Cannabis and Alcohol. The vote of thanks was delivered by P. Vijayadharsini from the second year Robotics and Automation. Mr.S.Sathish, YRC Coordinator, faculty members and 300 students participated in the awareness program. Overall, the program effectively fulfilled its objective of empowering participants to combat drug abuse in their communities, underscoring the importance of education and proactive intervention.
