A seminar on the topic of “Awareness Program on Higher Studies in Foreign Universities” was organized by the Centre for Foreign Studies on 22.09.2022 at Kalam’s Chamber in Paavai Engineering College. Ms. Simene Hussain, Branch – Head, EDWISE – Overseas Education Consultants, Coimbatore was the Chief Guest and delivered the Seminar. The objective of the seminar was to create awareness among the students about higher studies abroad and provide information regarding formal requirements to the aspirants. Such knowledge sharing programs are supported and encouraged by Dr.K.K.Ramasamy, Director-Administration, Paavai Institutions.The program was presided over by Dr.M.Premkumar, Principal of Paavai Engineering College.Dr.K.Sundaramurty and Dr.V.Subburam, Coordinators of ‘Higher Studies – Abroad’ had taken care of the arrangements. The inaugural function begun with a prayer song. Mr.M.Mugilraj of Second year Mechanical welcomed the gathering and Mr. S.Sivalingam of final year Mechanical introduced the chief guest.
Dr.M.Premkumar, in his presidential address said about the Memorandum of Understanding Paavai Engineering College made with Taiwan Universities. He also described how Paavai students got merit scholarships for higher studies in Taiwan Universities and employed in Taiwan itself and in other countries. He urged the students to be keen to gather all the information regarding applying for higher studies abroad from the seminar and avail the scholarships and other possible opportunities to make a career abroad.
The chief guest in his lecture explained how foreign universities admit international students into their universities for various Bachelor’s and Master’s programs. She also provided information about famous universities of different countries and courses that would offer lucrative careers abroad. The chief guest further talked about scholarships, English tests like Duolingo, IELTS to be taken for studies abroad and foreign universities offering special schemes especially for Indian students.
There was an interactive session at end and the chief guest cleared the doubts of the students.The seminar was well received by the students. A large number of students, from various departments interested in foreign studies participated in the program. Mr. S.Selvaprabbu, Final year mechanical student did the emcee to the program. The program ended with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Mr.J.Naveen Kumar, Third year Mechanical student.
