The Centre for Research & Innovation and IQAC of Paavai Engineering College is organizing an Online Lecture Series on Optimisation Techniques. In this series, on 21.12.23, a topic “Fuzzy Logic (FL) and Applications” was delivered by Dr.V.Ganapathy, Eminent Professor. The welcome address was given by Dr.I.Rajendran, Dean – Research & Innovation of Paavai Engineering College.
The resource person, during his special lecture, elucidated on various components of the fuzzy logic system including fuzzy rules. Also explained the types of Fuzzy Logic like Type-1 Fuzzy Logic, Type-2 Fuzzy Logic, and Interval Type-2 Fuzzy Logic. Additionally, he delved into Membership Functions, including Triangular Membership Function, Trapezoidal Membership Function, Gaussian Membership Function, and Generalized Bell Membership Function.
He covered the two prominent approaches of Fuzzy Logic: the Mamdani Fuzzy Inference System and the Sugeno Fuzzy Inference System. In the explanation of the Mamdani Fuzzy Inference System, he detailed its Structure, Fuzzification, Rule Evaluation, Aggregation, Defuzzification, and their practical application. Similarly, he described the components of the Sugeno Fuzzy Inference System, including its Structure, Rule Representation, Output Generation, and their practical application. Finally, he provided an in-depth comparison of these two approaches. Further he explained how fuzzy tool are tracked, executed through MATLAB.
The Heads of various departments, faculty members and students participated in the session and benefitted. The Vote of thanks was delivered by Dr.I.Rajendran, Dean – Research & Innovation in the end.
