In his felicitation address, Dr.K.K.Ramasamy, Director – Administration, said that in the beginning, one or two students went to Taiwan for higher studies from Paavai and this year, 26 students have got selected to do Master’s in Taiwan Universities with 100% scholarship and a monthly stipend of Rs. 26,000. He also urged our students to get international exposure which would broaden their perspective of life.
The Chief Guest, Mr. Agnel Worth, in his brief speech explained the educational system of Canada, where the ‘courses’ in an institution is offered as per the job vacancies that arise in a region and the particular field for which workforce is required. He also told that the population of Canada, which is four times bigger than India land-wise, is very less compared to India and hence it is super-easy for Indian students to do higher studies, get jobs and settle there if they wish. Canada is a developed country and the research budget of an institution there would equal to the state government’s budget in India, he stated. He further said that doing Internship in Canada involves solving a technical problem and students can gain practical knowledge significantly which would add weightage to their resume and help them to get plum jobs in MNCs. After completing his speech, he answered the questions of the students which touched upon cultural shock for Indian students in Canada, expenditure for higher studies in Canada and getting part time jobs, state-of-the-art laboratories in Canadian institutions etc.
Dr.M.Premkumar, Principal, in his address, explained his experiences of visiting Taiwan and Japan universities and the possible avenues for students to do internships and higher studies in Taiwan, Canada and other foreign countries. He further told that the money spent on such purpose should not be thought as expenditure, but as ‘Investment’, because of the reason that it is going to be the ‘Game-Changers’ of the life of the students.
