The Department of chemistry had organized an online Guest Lecture on“SOCIAL ISSUES AND ITS IMPACT ON ENVIRONMENT”on 12thJuly 2022 at 06.30p.m. through the Microsoft Teams platform. The Resource person was Dr.K.Kiruthiga, Assistant Professor- Senior Grade,Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science,Chennai.The welcome address was given by R.Nisha from first year ECE and Mr.A.Jeeva, AP Chemistry introduced the resource person.
The objective of organizing the Online guest lecture was to create awareness among the students on issues related to environment. The outcome of the webinar is that the students gained knowledge on various ways to avoid degradation of environment. They are aware on the sources of degrading sources and the social issues like population, unemployment and sanitation globally and nationally, as a potential threat, to the environment. The resources person insists about the 3R concept and zero waste management technology for sustainable environment.
Finally, the vote of thanks was delivered by Dr.D.Rajamanickam, AP,Chemistry. Faculty members and about 260 students were present in the meeting. The feedback received from the students about the webinar was useful for mankind and awareness on various social issues.
