The Department of CSE(IOT) organized a Guest Lecture on the topic “Social Engineering Attacks and it’s Prevention” on 27.03.2024. The objective of this Guest Lecture was to create a awareness about the social engineering attacks are been made and how to prevent ourselves from those attacks.
The welcome address was given by M. J. Neaha Shree, II Year CSE-IoT. The presidential address was given by Dr. M. Premkumar, Principal, Paavai Engineering College. He insisted about the role of the social ups and downs with the safe guarding ways in providing actionable insights derived from the attacks and the importance of Guest Lecture.
Dr.T.Gnanaprakasam Thangavel, Professor, CSE Alliance University, Bangalore, commenced the session with an introduction to the concept of social engineering that is driven in the world. The presenter discussed about the attacks that is made by the social media with examples and practical illustrations
The lecture showcased real-world attacks of social engineering across various social medias that has been driven to the negatively implied sources. In his presentation, he mentioned with examples, how the attacks are happened in social media and how the user can give chances to be attacker. He introduced various tools, techniques and methodologies used in the prevention of the social media attacks. He discussed about various attacks that can be prevented by using various websites. The practical demonstrations were provided to enhance understanding.
As a conclusion, the guest lecture on “Social Engineering Attacks and its Prevention” provided attendees with a comprehensive understanding of the informative role of social engineering in today’s world that we face. The participants gained valuable insights through insightful discussions, practical examples and interactive sessions,. In which, we also learned how the social media attacks have been made and how to overcome those attacks.
