The Department of Cyber Security and Master of Computer Applications, in association with the Paavai Multicore Association (PMCA) organized a online webinar on “Roles of Machine Learning in Cyber Security” on 01.02.2023, 1.30 p.m. at Microsoft Teams. The webinar started with a welcome address and chief guest introduction by our MCA students. Dr. P. Muthusamy, Prof. HoD/Cyber & MCA also welcomed the gathering.
Dr. S. V. Kogilavani, Professor, Department of Artificial Intelligence, Kongu Engineering College, Perundurai, Erode, delivered a lecture on introduction about the basic definition of machine learning, major types such as supervised, unsupervised and reinforcement algorithms. Also discussed about the classification concepts with an example of random forest algorithm and healthcare applications. Later she addressed how the machine learning algorithms utilized in cyber security with an example of malware detection.
Further she has explained about how to develop a project with an example of malware executable detection data set. Her speech has given insight into real-time scenario of various cyber security issues and software vulnerabilities. At the end of the session, the queries were posted such as unemployablity issues due to automation, possibility of open source software for implementing ML algorithms etc. Around 168 students benefited through this online webinar.
Dr.T. Loganayagi, Professor and Dr. V. Annapoorni, Professor from the Cyber Security and MCA department were the coordinators. Dr.P. Muthusamy, head of the department cyber security and MCA, was the convenor. The workshop ended with a vote of thanks by Afreen S. I year MCA.
