The Department of Cyber Security in association with Institution Innovation Council (IIC-PEC) and EDC & the Institution of Engineers (India) organized a two days National level workshop on Bug Bounty” on 24.4.2023 and 25.4.2023.Mr. V Shanmugam, Mr. R Kapilsurya, , Mr. Anisto Mejin, Mr. SB Hariharan ,III year ,Department of Cybersecurity, Paavai Engineering College, Mr. R Loganathan ,Assistant Professor, Department of Cybersecurity, Paavai Engineering College,were the resource speakers. M.Balamanikanikandan, II Year Cyber security gave the welcome address. Dr.M.Premkumar, Principal, Paavai Engineering College gave the presidential address and emphasized that the outcome of learning process must be positive to improve the learning outcomes. Dr.P.Muthusamy Head of the Department, Cyber security, Master of Computer Applications motivated the students in improving their talents. On the first day, an introductory glimpse of bug bounty along with practical sessions was presented by Mr. V Shanmugam and Mr. R Kapilsurya. Students were excited and showed interest in finding bugs. The class began with the basics and hands on testing were taught including SQL injection and insecure data object reference. In the afternoon session, XSS (cross site scripting) were taught and the students experienced a hands-on training on DOM XSS, STORED XSS & REFLECTED XSS, BEEF-xss(Browser Exploitation Framework). The participants were keen on hands on learning and interacted enthusiastically. In the first day the participants tried and gained practical experience.
On the second day of workshop the team members Mr. R Loganathan, Mr. Anisto Mejin, Mr. SB Hariharan gave a detailed explanation on Ethical Hacking and Phishing using Social Engineering through various tools in Kali Linux. The session was very interesting. Real Life scenarios were depicted. In the afternoon session the participants were taught about URL basics, URL Tempering, HackTheBox and CSRF (Cross Site Request Forgery) along with hands on session. Finally, a QUIZ programme was conducted and prizes were given to top 3 contestants. A total of 70 students from various colleges participated in this workshop. The students felt that the workshop was interactive with hands-on experience. The function came to an end with vote of thanks. S,Dharshini, III year, Cyber security delivered the vote of thanks.
