The Department of ECE has organised a one day workshop on “Ethical Hacking” on 20.12.19 at Cute Hall. The programme commenced by invoking the blessings of the Almighty. Dr.K.Selvi, Dean Academics presided over the function. In her presidential address, she mentioned the importance of ethical hacking. She said that “Ethical Hacking” creates a wider impact in today’s modern era. She also gave some real time examples of hacking since the beginning of this decade. Mr.S.Vivek,CEO, Ozone Cyber Security, Kerala was the Chief guest. He delivered the Keynote address .In his talk he spoke about ethical hacking and its significance in today’s world. He added that it is not only the role of IT engineers but also meant for other Department engineers. He also gave a gist about simple hacking techniques in everyday routine. The session commenced with the brief introduction of hacking and its types. He gave a vivid idea of site security and also explained the difference between hacking and ethical hacking. He expounded their nature of work like submitting reports to their network admin which clarified the difference of legal and illegal hacking. He threw some lights on router and its usage, vulnerability in hacking, testing the websites legally.Knowledge on Linux based software, denial of Service attacks, security tools SQL and Wi-Fi protected access like WPA,WEP,WPA2 involved in hacking were also explained by him. Trainees gave a demonstration on assessing the security of websites, computer systems, mobiles, malicious hacking, security posture of target system. Hands-on training was given to hack small websites through their applications using mobile phones. They gave us essential procedures to hack computer systems. Earlier Ms.R.Abinaya from Third year ECE gave the welcome address. Ms.M.Jesima Yasmeen from Third year ECE introduced the Chief guest. Mr.B.Abirama Kannan proposed the Vote of thanks. At the end of the day, students gained knowledge about basic hacking methodologies and awareness about security attacks.
