The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, in association with the Institution’s Innovation Council has organized an online seminar on 30.11.2022 “Turn your ideas into patent” to disseminate awareness about patent rights and possible ways to turn their innovations into patents. Dr. R.Mohana Priya, Associate Professor and Convener of IIC welcomed and introduced the resource speaker. Mr.T.Jayachandran, Founder and CEO, JC filings, MSME Registered company, Unit II, of Nandha Engineering College was the resource speaker.
The resource speaker started the session with an introduction about Patent, trademarks and Copyrights. He elucidated the various procedures to apply and file different patents. He explained the UTILITY patent timeline and cost, the various procedures followed by the Government agencies for filing a patent. He also cited few websites that will be helpful for the participants to search for their ideas before patenting. He gave lot of tips to convert their ideas generated into patent, the ways to commercialize and sell their products.
At the end of the session, the queries were posted by the students and it was clarified by the resource speaker. Around 140 participants from various departments of Paavai Engineering College and other colleges benefited through this online seminar. Dr.M.Sudha, Head of the Department ECE, Dr. R. Mohana Priya, IIC Convener, Dr.K.Sundaramurthy, Vice President IIC, Dr.P.Pugalenthi, EDC Coordinator, IIC and EDC coordinators from various departments were also a part of the seminar. The outcome of the seminar was the participants were able to analyze the differences between Patent, trademarks and Copyrights.
