The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering organized an alumni guest lecture on “How IT works and recent trends in IT“ on 20th August 2022in Kalams Chamber from 11.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. Mr.S.Sivasudhan, Senior Lead Engineer, Randstad Technologies, Chennai was the alumni speaker. The welcome address was given by S.Sreetherasene,final year ECE and V.Shanmathi from second-year ECE introduced the alumni speaker.
The objective of this guest lecture was to create awareness among the students about “How IT works and recent trends in IT”. In the presidential address, Principal Dr.M.Premkumar addressed that opportunities are plenty in the IT sector and companies are approaching for recruitment that was not common in earlier days. He also added that the students should showcase their talents for better employment. He elucidated on the startup initiatives provided by the Central and State government and also the importance of Entrepreneurship.
Followed with it, the alumnus motivated the students to make the best use of the exemplary facilities available at Paavai Engineering College so that they can transform themselves into the best IT professionals. He also recollected his memories and his first job at Infosys through the placement opportunities provided at Paavai. He also explained the Software development life cycle and the various steps involved in it. He also explained the different job categories, important aspects of testing and the difference between the product and service-based IT companies.Finally, queries were posted and it was clarified by the alumnus.
The vote of thanks was delivered by S.Sunderesan from final year ECE. Dr.M.Sudha, Professor and Head, ECE,Mr.S.Sathish, Department Alumni Coordinator, Dr.R.MohanaPriya, ASP, ECE and Dr.T.Loganayaki Association coordinators, faculty members and 220 students were present at the meeting. As per the feedback received from the students, it was an eye-opening session for getting a job in the IT sector and the different tips to equip themselves to get placed in different product and service-based IT companies.
