The Department of IT organized an awareness program on the title “Cyber Security for Women”. The session was inaugurated at 10.00 a.m. by Dr. M. PremKumar, Principal, in the presence of Head of the department-IT, faculty members and the participants from departments of IT, CSE, ECE and Bio Medical. In his address, the Principal highlighted the importance of safe and security for women and expressed his concern on Child Abuse. In addition to that, he insisted the importance of moral education, values and transformation of human life. The special address was given by the guest speaker Ms Meena Gayathri, Assistant Manager, Zacco Cyber Security Research Labs. She expressed her sincere gratitude to the college for the cooperation to create awareness among the girls. The session was carried over on the title “Cyber Security for Women”. She started the session by asking ‘Whether they felt safe inside the campus?’ Many gave the answers in their point of view. She asserted the introduction of Cyber Security by saying that Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability are the pillars of the cyber security. Every student actively participated in the game, that had some information about liberty of rights given to the people. She explained, what happens in a minute in Social media? And also the percentage of users in social media. Later she moved on to the topic of hacking, where there are eight different types of hackers. Followed by her team, they demonstrated how hacking is done by accessing camera of mobile phones & systems and also accessed the user name and password of the people. They also defined the terms of Social engineering, Bit coins, and Cyber bulling. The team rendered their heartfelt thanks to the Management, Head of the Department-IT and the faculty members. Mr. J. Sakthivel, Chair YI YUVA and Chief Technical Officer, welcomed the gathering. The session ended around 12:30 p.m. with the vote of thanks proposed by Mrs. M. Shanmika, Third year IT.
