The department of MCA organized a one day seminar on “Futures of Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality” on 06th May 2023. Paavai Engineering College Alumni Mr.C.Arunkumar, M.Sc. (Software Engineering) 2013 batch, Augmented Reality Designer and Developer, Ekalaivan, Chennai, was the chief guest of the function. The function started with an auspicious note with the prayer song. Ms.R.Neha, I-Year MCA welcomed the gathering. The function was presided over by Dr. P.Muthusamy, Head of the Department, Department of Master of Computer Applications, Paavai Engineering College. Earlier, Introduction of the chief guest was given by Ms.V.Vimala, I-Year MCA.
The chief guest started his speech with an introduction about the “Augmented Reality” which gave everyone a clear view about it. He then elaborated the difference between the virtual reality and the augmented reality which helped the students to differentiate them in real world.
He narrated the new technologies of augmented reality. He demonstrated using some videos which made the students understand the topic very easier. He also showed us the applications of augmented reality in education as well as other fields. He also explained the usage of various tools like ARKit, ARCore, ARtoolkit and EasyAR for augmented reality creation.
The sessions were highly interactive and the queries of the students were clarified in a detailed manner by the resource person. The outcome of the one day seminar was that the students were able to understand augmented reality concepts and help them develop applications using augmented reality.
The function concluded with the vote of thanks by Ms.M.Lavanya, First year MCA. The Heads of various Departments, The Professors, and the Faculty members actively participated in the progamme and made it a grand success. The Students from MCA department, participated with full zeal to get benefitted by this programme.
