The Department of Mechanical Engineering in association with IIC-PEC and EDC organized a workshop titled “Prototype / Process Design and Development” on 18.03.2023 was organized for Mechanical and other department IIC and EDC students. The objective of this workshop is to provide knowledge on Prototype and Process design and development in Gear manufacturing
Mr.Shaikh Riyaz, Product Design Engineer, Shanthi Gears, Coimbatore was the resource speaker. In his speech, he explained about the design process and various stages involved in design process for manufacturing of gears. He also explained the ways in which manufacturing processes can affect the design and the final product of the gears. He explained about various software design tools like Autocad, Solidworks, Catia, Autodesk Inventor, Kissys, V gears etc., used to create new designs gear manufacturing. In this session he also talked about future developments and various opportunities for students in the gear manufacturing sector. It helped the students to gain information about the prototype model, design process in gear manufacturing and their testing.
Around 100 students participated in this workshop along with faculty members. He interacted with participants and cleared their doubts.
