The Department of Mechatronics organized a guest lecture on the title, “Python Programming”. The session was inaugurated by Dr. M. Premkumar, Principal, Paavai Engineering College, in Cute Hall at 10.00 a.m. The Head of the Department, faculty members and the students from Mechatronics Department participated in the guest lecture. Presidential address was given by Dr.M. Premkumar, Principal, PEC. In his presidential address, he explained about the prerequisites of starting a business and running it in a profitable manner. All this was explained by discussing start-up stories of Paytm, Fresh menu, Flipkart, Ola, Uber, Swiggyas well as their own journey. He also discussed different strategies which entrepreneurs are making to attract customers like free deliveries, exchange policies, discounts through their online apps, concessions on first order etc. Students wanted to know how to spot opportunities and how their education helped the young entrepreneurs with planning, financing and managing their businesses. He conveyed the importance of proper planning and structured learning through education. The keynote address was given by the guest speaker Mr. Arun Balaji, Managing Director, Yoi Robotic Laboratory, Coimbatore. He expressed his sincere gratitude to Paavai Engineering College for their support. The session was continued on the title “Python Programming”. He emphasized that, in addition to learning the academic curriculum, students should attempt to learn the latest programing languages which are trending in the IT industry. He suggested that Google Trends is a great website to follow to keep abreast with the latest trends on programming languages. Subsequently, Mr. Arun Balaji shared information on the Python Programming Language and its scope. He described the difference between Python and other Programming Languages. He also explained the students on how to get started with Python and install it, define functions, library files available etc. The session was extremely interesting for the students and they got an opportunity to hear and learn from an industry stalwart. He rendered his heartfelt thanks to the Management, Head of the Department – Mechatronics and the faculty members for their constant and continuous support. Mr. S. Hariharan, III-year Mechatronics, welcomed the gathering. Around 100 students from Mechatronics were benefited from the lecture. The lecture was followed by a question-answer session. Finally, the event was concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Harichandar.D – II year MCT.
