The National Service Scheme in association with the Department of Management Studies, Paavai Engineering College, organized a seminar on “World Consumer Day Lecture on promoting Consumer Legal Awareness Development” on 20th March 2024. Dr.V.RAMARJ, President, (District Judge super Time Scale), District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, Namakkal, was the resource person of the day. The function started with a prayer song invoking God’s blessings. Ms.V.Shanmathi from final year, ECE welcomed the gathering. The function was presided over by Dr.K.K.Ramasamy, Director-Administration, Paavai Educational Institutions. In his Presidential Address, sir highlighted the issues of consumer rights and laid emphasis on its importance. Ms.K.Jeevitha of first year, MBA introduced the Chief guest with his successful and versatile profile.
The Chief guest, Dr. V. Ramaraj, who has started the session highlighting the essentials in consumer rights, which every individual should be aware of it. He also explained about the expenses and time duration for the consumer court cases which will make the people hesitate to take actions against consumer crimes. He stated everything in a simple language and also in a simple manner with easy examples which could easily be related and understood by all. He also briefed about the online case hearings which would take place everyday in the afternoon, which would be useful for those who couldn’t be present in person in the court.
The session was an interactive one and helped the students to clear their queries by the resource person. The outcome of this one day seminar was, to create exposure about consumer rights and consumer crimes and its redressal procedures which would help the students be aware about the products and services they consume and be careful about not being the victim for a crime against them.
The seminar concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Ms. R. Swetha of second year, CSE, who thanked all the dignitaries, faculty members and the participants for their active participation. The Heads of various Departments, Professors, and Faculty members made it a grand success with their vibrant presence. Mr.C.Rathnakumar, NSS Programme Officer, Paavai Engineering College and Mrs.M.Bharani Eswari, Assistant Professor, Department of MBA, organized this seminar. The NSS volunteers and students from the Department of MBA participated with full enthusiasm and got benefitted by this seminar.
