The Youth Red Cross of Paavai Engineering College in association with the Talent Quest for India Trust and Manipal Hospitals, Salem organized the “World Suicide Prevention Day Awareness Program” on 11th September 2023 in Kalam Chamber from 02.30 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. Dr.C.Sangeshswaran MBBS, DA, MD[Gen], CCEMDM(Diab) Consultant-Internal Medical Manipal Hospital, Salem was the Chief Guest. The master of ceremony was given by V.Roshan Kumar IV- Biomedical Engineering. The inauguration started with the prayer song. The welcome address was given by Udhayavanan.K III- Pharmaceutical Engineering. A memento was presented by Principal to the Chief Guest . Dr.M.Premkumar ,Principal gave the presidential address and said the importance of preventing people from suicide depression and shared his experience with how joint family helps to overcome these scenarios.
The chief guest introduction was given by Soundariya Laksmi III – Computer Science and Engineering. Chief Guest Dr.C.Sangeshswaran addressed the students and discussed about the suicide issues and the importance of one’s life. He also explained and few tips to students to avoid these kind of suicide activities with a real time example from his experience. Then a mime act was played by N.Lara Arulishiya and team. After the session, the guest speaker cleared the students’ queries. The vote of thanks was delivered by from M.Mukila from IV-year Biomedical Engineering . Mr. S. Sathish, YRC Coordinator, faculty members and 230 students participated in the World Suicide Prevention Day Awareness Program.
